Conservation

Mountain lions roam large territories to mate and find food. In the Bay Area’s wildland-urban interface, roadways and housing developments make it difficult for mountain lions to safely move across the landscape. County Parks is committed to supporting research and identifying restoration scenarios that preserve and increase habitat connectivity for pumas and other wildlife. Through partnerships with neighboring land agencies, projects like the Highway 17 Wildlife Crossing Project will create habitat linkages that allow wildlife to access the resources that they need to survive.
