Interpretive Shelter
At the entrance to the park you will find an interpretive shelter containing information on the Indigenous People who were the original residents of Chitactac and the surrounding area who still have descendants living as the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band today. The panels within the shelter also share information on the trade network and ancestral territories of the larger region of the state, selected plants and other materials that are significant to the Amah Mutsun, and important members of the Amah Mutsun community.
The panels in the shelter are written in both English and Spanish. Also on display is a large, authentic petroglyph from thousands of years ago. Please follow regulations posted in the shelter and throughout the park, and treat all park resources with respect.
