Camping rules and policies
Follow these rules to be safe and ensure that everyone has a good camping experience.
Cancellation, transfer, and change policy
- There is a fee assessed for any cancellation, transfer, or change to a reservation or program registration.
- A fee assessment occurs when the customer requests:
- Changes to the date of a reservation.
- Changes to the arrival or departure date when the number of days is reduced.
- Changes to the site and/or park of the reservation.
- Fees assessed may be deducted from the original amount paid and the refund amount will vary based on the number of days prior to the arrival date or program start date on which the request is received.
- Cancellations, transfers and changes received more than 30 days prior to the arrival or start date will be refunded 90% of the original transaction fee.
- The first transfer fee will be waived as a courtesy if requested more than 30 days in advance.
- Any transfer or change after the first more than thirty (30) days prior to the arrival or start date will be refunded 90% of the original transaction fee.
- Cancellations, transfers, and changes received between 30 days and 4 days prior to the arrival or start date will be refunded 75% of the original transaction fee.
- There will be no refunds issued for cancellation, transfer, and change requests received less than 4 days prior to the arrival or start date.
- There will be no refund exceptions due to sickness or COVID.

- Self-cancellations can also be done on gooutsideandplay.org.
Reservation fees and hours
All fees are due and payable at the time of the transaction.
- Campsite fees include 2 vehicle entrances fees, additional vehicles will be charged an extra vehicle fee.
- Included vehicles must park at the campsite to avoid citation. Sanborn hike-in site parking is designated in the nearby parking lot.

Parks are open from 8:00 am to sunset. Parks are closed to non-campers from sunset to 8:00 am.
- Please be courteous and quiet when entering the park during quiet hours 10:00pm-7:00am.
- The entrance gates at Grant, Sanborn and Uvas Canyon County Parks are locked at sunset.
- Check your confirmation on your account at gooutsideandplay.org on the day of arrival for the current gate code.
Additional rules and policies
- Each customer may reserve a MAXIMUM of two camping sites for any date or a maximum of one group camp site for any date.
- All camping customers must check in at the park entrance kiosk upon arrival.
- Please read all posted signs upon check in.
- Check-in time for camping starts at 3:00pm.
- Check-out time for camping is 1:00pm.
- Please have your reservation confirmation with you at the park on the day of your reservation.
- Quiet hours are from 10:00pm-7:00am.
- Radios, playing of instruments and other loud noises are not permitted during quiet hours.
- Generators must abide by quiet hours.
- Each individual tent campsite is limited to no more than 8 people except 6 for hike-in sites at Sanborn.
- RV campsites cannot be occupied without an RV.
- RV's must have the ability to hook-up water and electricity.
- RVs are permitted at Mt. Madonna, Uvas Canyon, Coyote Lake, Grant and Sanborn Parks.
- RV height maximum is 11 feet.
- RV length maximum is 30 feet.
- RV's larger than maximum's listed above arrive at their own risk and may be asked to leave due to size restrictions.
- Refunds will not be provided.
- Tent camping at Sanborn Park is for the hike-in area only. No tents are allowed in the RV area.
- Shower facilities are available at each camping park.
- Showers are on timers and are included with a camping reservation.
- Camping reservations may be made up to six months in advance of the departure date and no less than 1 calendar day before the departure date.
- Limit of stay for camping is no more than 14 days in any 45-day period with a maximum of 14 days between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
- Dog and pets are allowed in all campgrounds.
- Dogs and pets must be on a leash no more than 6 feet long and under the owner's control at all times and must be confined to tents or vehicles at night.
- There is a maximum of 2 dogs and pets per site.
- Minors are not eligible to camp overnight unless accompanied by a responsible adult. Written proof of age may be required.
- Groups comprised predominantly of participants under the age of 18 must be chaperoned at a ratio of 1 adult to 10 minors.
- No wood gathering is permitted.
- No Fires are permitted on the ground.
- Charcoal is permitted in all grills, BBQ pits, and fire rings.
- Wood fires are not permitted in the large BBQ grills at the reserved sites in any park.
- Fires in BBQ pits must be kept beneath the grate.
- Please allow fires in grills, BBQ pits and fire rings to burn out (water will damage the grill, pit, or ring).
- Open fires and the use of charcoal briquettes may be restricted or prohibited due to fire danger levels during the summer season.
- You may wish to have an alternate method of cooking available.
- Camp stoves and similar devices with a controlled enclosed flame are allowed.
- General setup and cleanup of the premises shall be the responsibility of the customer.
- Buildings and grounds must be left free of debris and other refuse pertaining to the use or event at its conclusion.
- Clean-up includes but is not limited to:
- Clean fire rings empty of refuse and glass.
- All decorations and equipment removed from site.
- Any clean-up necessary after an event will be charged to the customer at the special staffing fee rate charged per person, per hour.
- Future reservations at any Santa Clara County park may be denied until all fees pertaining to a past reservation are paid.
- All Generators must meet the following requirements in order to be used on parklands.
- The generator must be Fire Marshal approved.
- The generator must have a spark arrestor and be properly muffled.
- The generator must have a working UL approved fire extinguisher within the area of the generator.
- The generator must be placed in an area that does not pose a fire hazard and does not cause vehicular or foot traffic obstruction. This includes any extension cords used.
- Generators cannot be used at Yurt camping sites.
- All generator use must cease during quiet hours
- Glitter and confetti are not allowed.
- Staples are not permitted on any picnic table, wood structure, or tree (hammocks must be free standing).
- Swimming is prohibited is all County parks.
- Smoking is prohibited in all County parks.
