Almaden Quicksilver Traveling Trunk
The lesson plans, materials and teaching guide in the trunk support 4th grade social studies standards. The trunk includes activities that allow students to explore Almaden Quicksilver's rich history through the people who lived and worked in the mining communities as well as understand how a local source of mercury was important to the success of the gold rush. The trunk can support the virtual school program or a teacher's own curriculum.
Chitactac Community Village Traveling Trunk
The items within the trunk are designed to support the Chitactac school program and represent the local Indigenous People. The trunk can be checked out by educators whether or not the class attends the field trip program. The trunk contains various teaching materials for an off-site version of the Chitactac school program, including a lesson plan, a deer bone rattle, cooking basket, deer pelt, staves, and much more! As with the in-park program, these materials are intended to support learning standards for 3rd and 4th grade.
