How to get here

The Grant House is located in Joseph D. Grant County Park at 18405 Mt. Hamilton Road, Mount Hamilton, CA 95140. The house and park are located east of Santa Clara Valley in the Diablo Range. The Park is accessible from San Jose via Quimby Road from Evergreen Valley High and Mt. Hamilton Road (State Route 130) from Alum Rock. Please note that Quimby Road is very narrow and is not suitable for RVs and large trailers.

When all roads are open, travel to the park by taking Highway 101 or Highway 680 to Alum Rock Avenue eastbound in San Jose. Turn right onto Mt. Hamilton Road and travel 8 miles to reach the park entrance. Check current traffic conditions for Mt. Hamilton Road on Caltrans. 

When you arrive at the Park, go through the main gate and pay the park entrance fee at the booth. Parking can be limited directly in front of the house, so follow the park road straight until you reach the roundabout with Stockman's picnic area. Continue through the roundabout to the easternmost parking area by taking the last exit. The house will be located just a quick walk from the parking area over a pedestrian bridge and a white fence that leads to the large yard.

For more accessible parking access to the house, take the first left after the park entrance booth and drive past the picnic area and Green Barn. Take the next left-vehicle turn that crosses over a bridge and provides accessible parking spots directly in front of the Cookhouse.
